A scissor lift makes work at height easier and faster. Renting one can save you time and money, and it can also reduce the risks of the job.

The platform rises on folding supports linked in a crisscross structure called a pantograph. As the pantograph extends, the platform goes up. Scissor lifts are widely used and can be bought or rented.

So who should rent one? Typical uses include:

  • Building maintenance: repainting a building, especially ceilings, or replacing fluorescent lights and pipes. A scissor lift reaches high areas that ladders cannot. Some models can be driven while the platform is raised, so you can move to the next spot without coming down.
  • Fruit harvesting: with both hands free and a basket at your feet, the work takes a fraction of the time it would from a ladder.
